I searched but couldn't find anything on this. If I want to use the Radar's tdif for transfer in then use Logic to play back out to the Radar, do I need to use both work syncs in and out or just one of them? Can I just leave the radar as the master clock using only the sync out to run audio in or out? I'm using a G5 with Logic and a 2408 interface.

Thanks, Dave

Hi David,

To clarify your desired signal paths:
*Output from the RADAR's TDIF into the 2408 interface to use Logic on the G5.
*Output from the 2408 into the RADAR for playback.

Is this correct?

I want to:
1. record to the Radar
2. transfer from Radar to Logic/2408 (via TDIF)
3. Playback from Logic/2408 thru the Radar (via TDIF)

Is this all possible with the Radar as the master clock and using only one sync cable?

Yes. When using the RADAR as the master clock, you will need to use either Word Clock or Word Sync (TDIF can be flaky, so whichever sync output that works best)Out of the RADAR to Word Clock In on the MOTU 2048.

ok, here is the situation now. I can transfer the audio to Logic(2408mk3)but I can't play it back through the Radar?? It doesn't matter if the i/o is set to none or tdif, I can transfer to logic, but no playback through the radar.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, Dave

First, to ensure the the MOTU is outputting TDIF, you can conduct a loopback test. On the MOTU, have one end of the TDIF cable going into TDIF outputs 1-8, and the other end going into TDIF outputs 9-17. If you can tell that these tracks are displaying on the meter then you know the TDIF output from Logic is correct. Otherwise, you have to check your settings there. Once that is all set, there are two things you can check on the RADAR:

1 - Make sure that all DIG IN are selected and set to TDIF.

2 - Check that all the tracks are armed for TDIF.

Ahhh! Thank you!! I did not know that the tracks had to be armed for the audio to pass. That was the problem.

Many Thanks IZ Support!!
