How can I open a radar session in DP, edit it, and then put it back into the Radar? I assumed I could just swap DVD's, but the Radar doesn't seem to like that. Can I eSATA to an external drive that can be accessed by both Radar and Mac?
How do others do it?

Hi Billy,

even if you could access the drive by both RADAR and Mac - the question if RADAR will accept the changes remains.

iZ - any hints on that one ?

I am planning to work the same way : recording and playback through RADAR, editing (maybe some dynamics/effects) in the DAW.

So I will have to be able to transfer files from the RADAR to the DAW, change them and transfer them back into my project where they were before.

What's the best/easiert way to reach that goal ?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Here's my understanding, though there may be more ways to do this. I hope this helps.

The Radar audio drive is proprietary, so direct access to the radar audio is not recommended.
But, there are several other options. Here's a very brief explanation.
1> synchronize the DAW and Radar (either MTC or SMPTE) and transfer the audio in real time via a digital interface. Example: If you have something like an RME Hammerfall card in the DAW and ADAT I/Os on the radar, you could transfer 24 tracks at a time via litepipe.
2> Network Drive: the radar has the ability to connect to a computer on your local network (or direct ethernet connection). You could then Export/Import the audio to a drive on another computer. Works very well, but can only setup to one computer at a time.
3> Radar FTP Server: Radar has an FTP server, and via a network connection and a 2-step process you can export audio to the Radar's internal "Archive" drive and fetch the audio with an FTP client on another computer. I use this every day. The 2-step process is not as convenient as the Network Drive option, but allows multiple computers to trade audio with the radar. (We have multiple control rooms and edit rooms that need access to the radar audio.) The radar cannot be setup for NetworkDrive and FTP at the same time.
4> if you have an eSATA drive on your radar, you could export to this drive and re-attach to your DAW.

For options 2, 3 & 4 above, you use the "Export" command to save audio to either the Network, eSATA or the internal Archive drive. When reversing the process, you may NOT want to use the "Import" command, as this will import your audio to a new project. To import to the currently active project, use the "Clip Import" command to import to the clipboard and then use the "Paste" command to place the audio where you want it.

There's more to all of the above, but like I said, this is brief and gives you some options.
Check out the FAQs on the Support page on network setup.

So what exactly is meant by the phrase "DAW compatability"?
