Hi, I'm getting really worried about this forum. It's been pretty quiet around here. Also wondering about the health of IZ as a company. I love Radar and the people who make it. And would love to see them move to the Next Level. Whats that ?? It's obvious to me and probably others that an integrated DAW, mixing system, plug-ins and all. I know the Radar system in it's proprietary format is not that easily done. But if anybody can do it , it's IZ. I think you guys should reinvent the wheel here. A new system inside the Radar box/ a retrofit to change the industry standard to RadaR LeveL. I cant stand the way the others sound. Thanks for listening. Mike :?>
Yeah, I've been using Radar for 12 years now. I can't stand PAYING for software upgrades! It's nonsense! I used Radar through some BRUTAL software revisions. It crashed EVERY session, made hideous noises, lost audio, and Radar didn't even have the TDIF standard together when they CLAIMED they did! IE-it didn't work when they said it would. Yet I've stood by this product. Where's the freakin' FIREWIRE already?!! These units sound KILLER, but they shouldn't cost $20k! Radar sounds and operates basically the same as it did 12 years ago. Where are the playlists and the sample-level editing? Other hard disc systems had these features YEARS ago. All's I ever hear from iZ is, "Yeah we're working on that or that'll be a paid upgrade, blah, blah, blah..." They don't treat their dealers very well, so I've heard. Barry showed a Firewire back-up system in NYC at least 7 years ago. I don't think anyone's listening at iZ. I've already made TONS of suggestions...

Wow, Sorry to hear about your disappointments. This thread was to try to encorage some thinking "inside the box" to bring an awsome recorder to an awsome daw. I already do the transfer to my daw. But would love to see everything stay inside the Radar format and mixed. only to output on the 2 track final,, ok thanks
OK, that sounded a bit harsh. My point is that iZ should really try to build in some sensible and necessary upgrades without charging us for every darn improvement! Manufacturers should voluntarily improve their products and not make us (the loyal users)amortize basic features. This FTP glitchy file x-fer business is an an example. This feature should work FLAWLESSLY, but I'll bet WE'LL have to pay that bug fix. Other producers and engineers gaze with astonishment when they find out Radar doesn't have native FireWire. Again, we were promised this feature several years ago. What do you mean by "inside the box thinking"? You're looking for some new features? I mix to 23/24 or 47/48. Works great. I love the remote. It's the only real remote out there. But these things along with the fundamental features of Radar are the same as 12 years ago. It still the core of my set up. I only have ProTools to accommodate other clients. I abhor DAWs, mice, music on screens, flimsy keyboards posing as interfaces, outboard convertors/clocks, plug-ins, latencies, latency compensation, etc. It's all very fiddly and unmusical to me. Radar is the antithesis of all this. Maybe this is as good as it'll get. Peace.

I hate DAWs, I love Radar. I dream of a Radar where one of the slots on the back holds an expansion card for a Magma-type box to hold my UAD cards. I dream of a port where a dedicated mixing surface can be hooked up. I dream of VST compatability. The only reason I keep cubase around is for automation and plug-ins.
